MIRANTE DO GAVIÃO LODGE



The architectonical project, in precious wood and totally integrated to the nature, calls the attentions in Mirante do Gavião Amazon Lodge. It is located at Negro River riverbank at Novo Airão city 184 km from Manaus by ground. The transfers Manaus-Lodge are realized in cars with air-conditioning in 3 hours trip each way. The structure has original design harmonizing art and nature preserved surround!
It was created by Spanish Architect Patricia O'Reilly, from Atelier O'Reilly Architecture & Partners Sustainable Strategies office, the Mirante do Gavião is composed by seven units and a leisure area with pool, large restaurant/bar and 3 belvederes.

The package values include: All activities described, this way, it will not occur devolution or discount in the payment in case of any activity cannot be run (in case of arrival and departure schedule or any other reason). The activities can be changed, exchanged or cancelled for weather conditions, safety or re-scheduled according lodge needs.

Remember the drought period are from October to December, floods are January to March with high levels from April to June and then ebbing between July to September (with variation between the months). The different seasons and conditions between drought and flooding can change the excursions.

The tour guides attend the activities of the guests in groups of up to 12 people. During the stay at lodge, many different guides can attend the same group. For private guide/tour, look for reception staff in advance to ask for the values and availability.
Transfers to Mirante do Gavião are also regular (shared) with scheduled time according to the major flights to Manaus. If the guest wishes to request a private transfer at another time, ask staff booking/reception to ask for the values and availability. The Mirante do Gavião is not responsible for delays in transportation that may cause the loss of meals and activities packages, whether by natural disasters, traffic conditions, strikes or other adverse reasons.

Gavião Lodge - ChaletACCOMMODATION

The 7 rooms in Mirante do Gavião, with sophisticated design and large spacious, are divided in 3 categories: The House Tree (with private belvedere to family group), standard and luxury. The accommodation are surrounded by Brazilian Nut trees, tucumã palm trees and other native trees of amazon biome, besides the beautiful view to Anavilhanas Archipelagos - the second largest fluvial of the world at Negro River/AM.

House Tree - Family: The house tree has 2 private rooms and an exclusive belvedere, ideal to those traveling with family or friends group. Maximum accommodation capacity is 6 people, being 4 regular beds and 2 extra beds. Regular beds are queen size (single or double), safety box, minibar, air-conditioning, 10 items of amenities, work table and verandah viewed to the Negro River. The private belvedere has hammocks and lazy chair at the best view to the sunset.

Standard: Located at main block, the 3 Standard Rooms offer capacity to 3 people (2 regular beds and one extra). The king size bed (single or couple), safety box, minibar, air conditioning, 10 items of amenities, work table, central table with puffs and verandah with hammocks and table/chairs.

Gavião Lodge Luxury Chalet

Luxury: Located at main block, the 2 Luxury Rooms offer capacity to 4 people (2 regular beds and 2 extra beds). The king size bed (single or couple), safety box, minibar, air conditioning, work table, central table and chairs and verandah with hammock and table/chairs. The special charm of this accommodation is the hot tub, 12 items of amenities, special bed sheets and large verandah.

Adapted to people with disabilities: The Mirante do Gavião lodge believes sustainability goes further than solar energy and organic garden. The social inclusion is directly related to the in philosophy to offer wellness, joy and nature contact! Our adapted accommodation to receive guests with disabilities or reduced mobility is of Standard category and very comfortable, functional and safety, for those moments in the Amazon being lived in the best way possible. The accommodation has support bars, table & stuff at adequate highs and spacious area for circulation.

Viewed to the Negro river, the restaurant of the lodge has a menu elaborated by a Cuisine Chef from São Paulo, Débora Shornik, which is responsible by Flor do Luar Restaurant also in Novo Airão. Our proposal is to offer a different environment, with charm of Negro River and Amazonas State with dishes of International Gastronomy, utilizing most as possible the regional ingredients.

1st day

Around 10:00 AM, transfer from Manaus to Novo Airão (2:30h - 200km) in air conditioned transportation.

City Tour in Novo Airão, with tour guide, which can be done with hotel bikes or with a motorized vehicle. Diving with buoys on the Rio Negro.

2nd day

Breakfast at CamuCamu Restaurant.
Drought Season: Soon after the breakfast, departure by speedboat to visit the Aracarí community and Bacaba community. Interpretive trail in terra firme forest.
Lunch of Amazonian fish roasted in the ember in a traditional house of the riverside caboclos.
Then travel to leisure on Bacaba Beach, in the heart of the National Park of Anavilhanas. After the refreshing bath, an appreciation of the flora and fauna of the islands, rapid displacement to the largest tree of the Anavilhanas igapó, a giant Macucu, in foray into the várzea forest and explanation of this peculiar ecosystem.
Flood Season: Departure by speedboat to visit the Sobrado community. Interpretive trail in terra firme forest, with visit to the largest arboreal species of the Amazon, Samaúma.
Lunch of Amazonian fish roasted in the ember in a traditional house of the riverside caboclos.
Then, we will travel to the largest tree of the Anavilhanas igapó, a giant Macucu in the Araras parana. Upon returning to the inn, foray into the forest of igapó for appreciation of the flora and fauna of that ecosystem.

3rd day

Departure before breakfast for contemplation of the sunrise in the Anavilhanas Archipelago.
Return to the lodge for breakfast.
Departure by speed boat for river bathing in freshwater beaches (dry season) or water trail through igapós (flood season).
In return, visit to the Float of the Pink Dolphins.
Back at 11:00 AM for check out at the Lodge.
12:00 PM - Complimentary lunch in the Camu-Camu restaurant, subject to the unoccupied suite.
01:00 pm - Transfer from Novo Airão to Manaus in air-conditioned vehicle (duration 2:30 hours).

Gavião Uiraçu - 4 Days & 3 Nights

Drought Season: Lunch at straw shelter at Caboclo Site and diving in the rocks ofMadadá.
Return in speed boat to the inn (1h30), between the islands of Anavilhanas National Park. Dinner at CamuCamu Restaurant.

4th day

Dinner at CamuCamu Restaurant with presentation of folklore dance.

5th day

Departure before breakfast for contemplation of the sunrise in the Anavilhanas Archipelago. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Departure by speed boat for river bathing in freshwater beaches (dry season) or water trail through igapós (flood season). In return, visit to the Float of the Pink Dolphins. Back at 11:00 AM for check out at the Lodge.

Gavião no Mato - 6 Days & 5 Nights

1st day

Around 10:00 AM, transfer from Manaus to Novo Airão (200 km in 2:30 hours) in acclimatized vehicle.
Arrival, accommodation and lunch at CamuCamu Restaurant at lodge.
Guided city tour by Novo Airão in acclimatized vehicle or by bike of hotel.
Afternoon Optional tour: Diving with buoys in Negro River.
Dinner at CamuCamu.
Optional tour: Night tour in speed boats to spot night animals at Anavilhanas National Park.

2nd day

Breakfast at CamuCamu restaurant.
Dry Season: After the breakfast, departure by speedboat (45min) for leisure in the Camaleão Beach, in the heart of Anavilhanas National Park. After the refreshing bath, flora and fauna appreciation, rapid shift to the largest tree in the flooded forest of Anavilhanas, a giant Macucu tree in Parana das Araras in rapid incursion into flood plain forest (called "Várzea"). Then travel to the Sobrado Beach for lunch of traditional Amazonian fish roasted on the grill. Rest and contemplation in the hammock through the trees of the island, already near the community of Curuçá, which has toilet services.
Flood Season: Departure by speedboat to visit the riverside community of Sobrado Village with interpretive trail of activity (2:30h round trip), where you will have opportunity to meet the fauna species, flora and Samaúma, most tree species in the Amazon. Traditional Amazonian fish lunch barbequed in traditional Caboclo house.
Dinner at CamuCamu Restaurant.

3rd day

Breakfast at CamuCamu restaurant.
After breakfast, we continue towards the Apuaú river by speedboat, sailing on its high course to the Floating Base of the Gavião.
Drought Season:Trekking from 2 hours in pristine forest to the waterfall or returning to the base, with a lunch of caboclo: roasted fish on the fire and accompaniments. Leisure in the waterfall, with baths, diving in the natural pools and other aquatic activities. Pescaria Esportiva de Tucunaré, with reel, fly or artificial bait.
Dinner and stories of caboclo folklore. Overnight or bed in floating base.
Flood Season:Canoeing in Igarapé Içana to the waterfalls, trekking for 1 hour in pristine forest to the Igarapé do Baependi waterfall, another tributary of the Apuaú River. Leisure in the waterfall, with baths, diving in the natural pools and other aquatic activities, while the crew rides jungle camp for overnight.
Dinner and stories of caboclo folklore. Overnight or jungle stalls.

5th day

Drought Season: In the wake of the sounds of the forest, our team prepares breakfast at the floating base of Mirante do Gavião, while fishing for tucunare in the lakes around the base, and upstream. Return to Base for breakfast.
Flood Season: In the wake of the sounds of the forest, breakfast in the camp, prepared by our team. Bathing waterfall and canoeing downstream enjoying the terra firme forest of Içana, up to the Floating Base of the Gavião.
Return to the Pousada Mirante do Gavião and lunch at CamuCamu Restaurant.
Afternoon free to rest and enjoy the leisure areas.
Optional included: massage with local medicinal herbs - Spa do Gavião.
Dinner at CamuCamu restaurant.

6th day

Departure before breakfast for to sunrise at Anavilhanas Archipelago.
Breakfast at CamuCamu Restaurant.
Departure in speed boat for piranha fishing activity, stopping at freshwater beaches (during the drought) or aquatic trail by igapós (the flood time).
Returning, visit to the river dolphin floating.
At 11 AM, you may leave the room, make check-out and let the luggage at reception.
Lunch at restaurant and transfer to Manaus. Arrival foreseen to 4 PM.

Gavião na Maloca - 7 Days & 6 Nights

1st day

Around 10:00 AM, transfer from Manaus to Novo Airão (200 km in 2:30 hours) in acclimatized vehicle.
Arrival, accommodation and lunch at CamuCamu Restaurant at lodge.
Guided city tour by Novo Airão in acclimatized vehicle or by bike of hotel.

After breakfast, departure for canoeing activities in traditional "canoa cabocla" (local canoe style) and piranhas fishing in Igarapé do Puduari.
Return for lunch at the CamuCamu restaurant.
Afternoon free to rest and enjoy the inn.

Dinner at the CamuCamu restaurant.

5th day

After breakfast at the lodge, head towards Lake Acajatuba, in the southern part of the Anavilhanas National Park, by speedboat, with occasional stops for observation of fauna in the archipelago's lakes (through opportunities identified by the Guide).
Entrance to the floating lake where it is possible to swim with the pink dolphins, besides see some pirarucus (the largest freshwater scale fish in the world).
Check in and lunch in the caboclo site of Pereira, the shores of the lake, with use of the bathroom.
After a short rest in hammocks, we sail to the Ariaú River, where we can enjoy the rich bio-diversity of this course, with probable interaction of cairara monkeys.
Optional included, by sunset, go for piranhas fishing and night animals.

At sunrise, our staff prepares breakfast.
Comunitour for interchange with local customs. Indigenous presentation with dance to instruments.
Return to the Mirante do Gavião Lodge with stop for lunch in caboclo site.
End of the afternoon free to rest and enjoy the leisure areas at the Lodge.
Dinner at the CamuCamu restaurant.

7th day

Departure before breakfast tour to see sunrise at Anavilhanas Archipelago.
Breakfast at CamuCamu Restaurant.
Departure in speed boat for piranha fishing activity, stopping at freshwater beaches (during the drought) or aquatic trail by igapós (the flood time).
Returning, visit to the river dolphin floating.
At 11 AM, return to the lodge, make check-out and let the luggage at reception.
at 12 PM Lunch at restaurant Camu-Camu
At 1 PM transfer to Manaus in acclimatized vehicle. Arrival foreseen to 4 PM.

Gavião no Jaú (7 days / 6 nights)

1st day

Around 10:00 AM, transfer from Manaus to Novo Airão (200 km in 2:30 hours) in acclimatized vehicle.
Arrival, accommodation and lunch at CamuCamu Restaurant at lodge.
Guided city tour by Novo Airão in acclimatized vehicle or by bike of hotel.
Afternoon Optional tour: Diving with buoys in Negro River.
Dinner at CamuCamu.
Optional tour: Night tour in speed boats to spot night animals at Anavilhanas National Park.

2nd day

Breakfast at CamuCamu restaurant.
Dry Season: After the breakfast, departure by speedboat (45min) for leisure in the Camaleão Beach, in the heart of Anavilhanas National Park. After the refreshing bath, flora and fauna appreciation, rapid shift to the largest tree in the flooded forest of Anavilhanas, a giant Macucu tree in Parana das Araras in rapid incursion into flood plain forest (called "Várzea"). Then travel to the Sobrado Beach for lunch of traditional Amazonian fish roasted on the grill. Rest and contemplation in the hammock through the trees of the island, already near the community of Curuçá, which has toilet services.
Flood Season: Departure by speedboat to visit the riverside community of Sobrado Village with interpretive trail of activity (2:30h round trip), where you will have opportunity to meet the fauna species, flora and Samaúma, most tree species in the Amazon. Traditional Amazonian fish lunch barbequed in traditional Caboclo house.
Dinner at CamuCamu Restaurant.

3rd day

Breakfast at CamuCamu restaurant.
All year: After the breakfast, departure in speedboat (1h30) for activity of interpretive trail until the Caves of Madadá and their halls of stone (full day - trekking 3 hours in primary forest). In return, passage by Caboclo site with crops of native fruits.
Flood Season: Lunch at the Madadá Belvedere viewing the Anavilhanas Archipelago. Rest and contemplation in hammocks of the belvedere, which has toilet services, visit the giant tree Tanimbuca specimen.
Drought Season: Lunch at straw shelter at Caboclo Site and diving in the rocks ofMadadá.
Return in speed boat to the inn (1h30), between the islands of Anavilhanas National Park.
Lunch at CamuCamu Restaurant.

4th day

Breakfast at CamuCamu restaurant.
After breakfast, departure for canoeing activities in traditional "canoa cabocla" (local canoe style) and piranhas fishing in Igarapé do Puduari.
Return for lunch at the CamuCamu restaurant.
Afternoon free to rest and enjoy the inn.
Optional included: massoterapia - Spa do Gavião
Dinner at the CamuCamu restaurant.

5th day

After breakfast at the lodge, we head towards the Jaú National Park by speedboat, with occasional stops for wildlife observation in the lakes of the Anavilhanas Archipelago (through opportunities identified by the Guide).
Stop at the ruins of Velho Airão, the first Portuguese settlement of Rio Negro.
Visit to Petroglyphs dated 800 a.c. (dry season).
Check-in at the floating base of ICMBio, at the entrance of the Park (mouth of the Jaú River). Presentation of documents, quick lecture about the Park, visualization of document arts.
Visit the Samaumeiras, giant trees. Visit the waterfalls of the Jaú National Park, bath with buoys and leisure on the Jaú River.
Caboclo lunch at the waterfall: roasted fish on the fire and accompaniments.
Displacement to the Community of Cachoeira, interaction with the caboclo/indigenous way of life of a traditional community.
Overnight in the community.

6th day

Wakening with the sounds of the forest, our team prepares breakfast.
Canoeing to the island of the Monkeys, with local residents, in the visualization of Bicó monkey flocks and other animals.
In return, community attractions: giant tree (Samauma and Angelim), flour house, local fruit orchard.
Return to the Mirante do Gavião Lodge. In the middle of the trip, stop for lunch in caboclo site.
End of the afternoon free to rest and enjoy the leisure areas of the Lodge.
Dinner at the CamuCamu restaurant.
